If you are brand new to homeschooling or still considering it, you are in the right place.

If you have been homeschooling for a while and are struggling to “get it right,” you are in the right place.

The Smart Homeschool is all about helping you find the right way to homeschool for your family.  This isn’t just another “day in the life of me” blogs.  This is a place for creativity, ideas, and inspiration to help you find what works for you.

From kindergarten through 6th grade I went to public school.  Right before I started 7th grade my mom decided to homeschool me.  That decision was one of the best things to happen to me. I was an extreme introvert with very little self-esteem and no motivation to do well in school.  Within two years I was a completely different kid.  I was comfortable talking to anyone, I joined the drama team in my youth group and at one point performed a monologue in front of the whole church.  I discovered I was actually kinda smart and while we didn’t have grades in my homeschool, I graduated college with a 3.8 gpa.

I have known since about the 8th grade that I was going to homeschool my own kids.  It has been tough sometimes, but mostly it’s been a wonderful journey that I wouldn’t trade for anything.  I think my experience with being homeschooled has made me feel more comfortable experimenting with what works and what doesn’t for my kids.  So many parents still feel like they need to replicate public school as much as possible.  I couldn’t disagree with that more.  I believe the best curriculum/schedule/methods are whatever works for your child, not what worked for someone else’s.
